President Bola Tinubu
KANO, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu orders a comprehensive investigation into repeated fire outbreaks at Singer Market in Kano following a fresh inferno that devastates the popular trading hub.
The fire erupts on Saturday evening and burns into Sunday morning, destroying goods and stalls at the food market in the Kano metropolis. The President describes the incident as tragic after receiving a situation report from Abba Kabir Yusuf.
In a statement issued on February 15, 2026, by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu expresses concern that the blaze occurs less than two weeks after an earlier fire at the same market.
He says recurring market fires inflict severe economic losses and leave traders in distress, directing authorities to investigate the causes and recommend preventive measures. The President assures affected traders of the Federal Government’s concern and commitment to preventing future incidents.
