LASEPA official seal a factory for noise and air pollution in Lagos.
LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed several facilities, including a church and factories, in Ifako-Ijaiye and Igando for repeated noise and air pollution violations.
In a statement released via X (formerly Twitter), the agency said Monday’s enforcement was part of intensified efforts to curb environmental pollution across Lagos.
Among those affected are the Cherubim and Seraphim (King of Kings) Church on College Road, Ifako-Ijaiye; a fufu-making plant cited for heat and odour pollution; and Tynonex Nigeria Limited, shut for environmental nuisance.
General Manager, LASEPA, Dr Babatunde Ajayi, said the move aims to protect residents’ health and restore environmental order.
“Freedom of worship must not infringe on others’ right to peace and health,” Ajayi said. “We have zero tolerance for pollution in Lagos.”
He condemned the church’s illegal operation despite repeated complaints from residents and stressed that all businesses must comply with environmental standards or face sanctions.
LASEPA reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring cleaner air, quieter communities, and sustainable urban living, urging citizens to report violations promptly.
“Our environment is our shared responsibility,” Ajayi emphasised. “We will continue enforcement until full compliance is achieved.”
