Cross- River Governor, Bassey Otu
CALABAR, Nigeria – The Governor of Cross-River state, Governor Bassey Otu has pledged to deepen investment in healthcare in Cross River State, stressing the need for stronger collaboration between government and medical professionals.
The governor made the commitment on Thursday during a courtesy visit by the Nigerian Medical Association Cross River chapter at Government House, Calabar.
Otu said healthcare remains central to development and assured stakeholders of continued engagement to address sector challenges.
“I urge you to remain committed to your duties, as I assure you of continued government support,” he said.
He emphasised professionalism, integrity and transparency as critical standards in medical practice.
Chairman of the state NMA, Dr Epoke Ezoke, commended the administration’s progress in infrastructure, staff welfare and policy reforms, describing them as impactful.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening the health system through targeted investments and sustained dialogue with stakeholders.
