KATSINA, Nigeria – The Katsina State Government has declared a State of Emergency on public primary school infrastructure across all 34 local government areas.
The decision, reached at the 14th State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Malam Dikko Radda, is aimed at addressing the crisis in basic education.
As part of the emergency plan, the Council approved immediate rehabilitation of the 10 most dilapidated primary schools in each LGA. The move is expected to fast-track renovations and restore confidence in the state’s education system.
Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hajiya Zainab Musawa, said the declaration reflects Governor Radda’s commitment to fixing systemic problems.
“We cannot allow thousands of children to continue learning in collapsed or unsafe classrooms. This declaration is both urgent and necessary,” Musawa stated.
She stressed that the emergency framework will bypass bureaucratic bottlenecks and ensure direct intervention in affected schools.
“We are shifting from reports to results. This administration is committed to making our public schools places of dignity, safety, and learning,” she added.
