KANO, Nigeria – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 45-year-old man in Kano over his alleged involvement in a motorcycle theft syndicate, recovering a suspected stolen motorcycle, multiple number plates and tools believed to be used by the criminal network.
The NSCDC motorcycle theft arrest follows an intelligence-led operation carried out at the suspect’s residence in Gaida, Abacha Street, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.
The Kano State Command identifies the suspect as Mustafa Sani and says he was arrested after a motorcycle bearing registration number GRR 958 QB, registered in Jigawa State, was traced to his residence.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, discloses the development in a statement issued on Tuesday.
According to the statement, NSCDC operatives recover another motorcycle suspected to have been stolen from a hospital in Rijiyar Zaki along Gwarzo Road in Kano.
The search also leads to the recovery of 11 registered motorcycle number plates, six screwdrivers, three pairs of pliers and three bunches of motorcycle keys believed to be linked to stolen motorcycles.
The command says the alleged kingpin of the syndicate, Mansur Nasir Khalil, popularly known as “S-Guy”, remains at large.
It adds that security operatives are continuing efforts to track and arrest the fugitive.
Kano State Commandant Mohammed Agalama commends officers involved in the operation, describing it as another success in the command’s intelligence-driven campaign against organised crime.
He says the command remains committed to dismantling criminal networks involved in motorcycle theft and other criminal activities across the state.
Agalama also urges residents to support security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could help prevent and detect crime.
The NSCDC says the suspect will undergo further investigation and will be prosecuted if found culpable under the law.
