LAGOS, Nigeria – Integrated Energy Hub took a major step towards advancing Nigeria’s clean energy transition on Friday as Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu inaugurated the country’s first integrated energy hub, calling for stronger collaboration between federal agencies and state governments to accelerate investment in sustainable energy infrastructure.
Speaking during the inauguration, Sanwo-Olu described the project as a milestone in implementing the Federal Government’s energy transition agenda and urged regulatory agencies to support states investing in cleaner energy technologies.
“Energy transition is real. The message to all the federal agencies is simple: come and see what we have done here and support those who are ready to invest. Let us remove unnecessary delays and make the transition easier for Nigerians,” the governor said.
“When transportation becomes more efficient and affordable, businesses become more competitive, commercial activities expand, and residents enjoy a better quality of life. That is the vision this project represents,” he said.
Earlier, Managing Director of IOGC, Temitayo Gbajumo, described the facility as Nigeria’s first integrated energy hub, bringing together conventional fuels and renewable energy technologies under one roof.
He disclosed that the CNG station has a daily dispensing capacity of about 7,000 standard cubic metres (SCM), while the petrol and diesel section is expected to serve between 200 and 300 vehicles daily.
Gbajumo added that IOGC plans to establish 19 CNG stations across Lagos before the end of 2026, with four already operational and several others under development.
The energy hub also features a cooking gas plant and a subsidised CNG vehicle conversion centre, where motorists can convert their vehicles for ₦700,000.
“The objective is to make the transition to cleaner and more affordable energy easier for Lagos residents,” he said.
