KATSINA, Nigeria – Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has commissioned a new primary healthcare clinic in Remawa community and approved the enrolment of 1,000 vulnerable residents into the Katsina State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KTSCHMA), in a move aimed at expanding access to affordable healthcare services.
The approval was announced during the inauguration of the Remawa Health Clinic in Rimi Local Government Area, according to a statement issued on Saturday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed.
Constructed by Federal High Court Judge Justice Binta Remawa, the facility includes staff quarters, a solar-powered borehole and 24-hour solar electricity to strengthen primary healthcare delivery in the rural community.
Governor Radda said the health insurance beneficiaries would include pregnant women, children under five, elderly persons above 60 years and persons with disabilities from Remawa, Yargamna, Yartsamiya and Yarnabanye communities.
“This facility, the quarters and water project are now yours. Protect them, maintain them and safeguard them so that our people can continue to benefit,” Radda said.
Justice Remawa said she initiated the project to address inadequate healthcare services and the shortage of safe drinking water in the community. She explained that the clinic was designed with staff accommodation and uninterrupted solar power to enable healthcare workers to provide round-the-clock services.
Representing the Commissioner for Health, Executive Secretary of the Katsina State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Shamsudeen Yahaya, said the facility would serve residents of Remawa and neighbouring communities.
“The facility will improve access to quality healthcare services for residents of Remawa and neighbouring communities while complementing ongoing investments in primary healthcare across Katsina State,” Yahaya said.
