ABUJA, Nigeria – The Presidency has dispatched a high-powered security delegation to Oyo State following the abduction of pupils and teachers from communities in Oriire Local Government Area, as pressure mounts for the safe return of the victims.
The delegation, led by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, includes National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Inspector-General of Police Tunde Disu, Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa, Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe and Special Adviser on Public Communications Sunday Dare.
The team arrived in Ogbomoso and is expected to visit Esiele and Yawota communities, where armed men reportedly attacked schools and abducted dozens of pupils and teachers.

Sunday Dare disclosed the development in a statement on Sunday, saying President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had ordered immediate action to secure the release of the victims and apprehend those responsible.
“A presidential delegation has arrived in Ogbomoso on its way to the affected villages where armed men invaded schools and abducted pupils and teachers,” Dare stated.
He added that security agencies had intensified rescue operations and surveillance in the affected communities.
The President also directed security operatives to strengthen ongoing efforts aimed at rescuing the victims and ensuring the perpetrators face prosecution.
Families of the abducted pupils and teachers have continued to appeal to federal and state authorities for urgent intervention.
