LAGOS, Nigeria – Diaspora investors in Winhomes Estate, Lekki, have rejected Minister of Works David Umahi’s claim that only four hectares were affected by the Lagos–Calabar highway project.
The minister had questioned the validity of a $250 million investment claim, saying: “If truly $250 million was invested, where is the proof?”
But investors, led by Winhomes CEO, Stella Okengwu on Wednesday, insist their investment exceeds $250 million and remains protected by law.
“The destruction of Winhomes Estate is about legality and due process. We will pursue justice relentlessly,” Okengwu said in a statement Wednesday.
The matter is pending before the Federal High Court in Lagos, Suit No. FHC/L/CS/1063/25, and has yet to be adjudicated.
Investors announced plans for a world press conference with documents and video evidence.
Analysts say the clash could escalate tensions between investors and government over infrastructure projects.
