FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike
ABUJA, Nigeria – The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), Michael Ango.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued Friday by Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communication and social media, Lere Olayinka.
According to the statement, the most senior official at the FCT-IRS has been directed to immediately assume leadership of the agency in an acting capacity. As of press time, no official reason had been provided for Ango’s removal.
Part of the statement reads: “The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has sacked the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Michael Ango. The most senior official of the FCT-IRS has also been directed to take over the running of the revenue agency with immediate effect.”
Under Ango’s leadership, the FCT-IRS recorded a revenue of ₦262 billion in 2024—surpassing its target of ₦250 billion and exceeding the ₦211.1 billion generated in 2023.
