KATSINA, Nigeria – The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has issued a 30-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to resolve pending welfare and policy concerns or risk industrial action.
In a communiqué after its 45th AGM in Katsina, signed by NARD President Dr Mohammad Suleiman and others, doctors demanded immediate payment of arrears, corrected allowances, reinstatement of five sacked colleagues, and review of the CONMESS salary structure.
“The AGM demands urgent settlement of all promotion arrears owed our members within 30 days,” the communiqué read.
NARD also directed members to stop working more than 24 consecutive hours from 1 October, citing unsafe conditions.
“The Ministry of Health must implement healthy call duty hours in line with international best practices,” the doctors insisted.
The association vowed stronger advocacy for improved funding, manpower policies, and measures to curb brain drain.
