ABUJA, Nigeria – Police dismantle a notorious “one chance” robbery network operating around the Federal Capital Territory, arresting two suspects linked to violent attacks, abductions and deaths.
The Nigeria Police Force on Friday says David Francis, 22, and Emmanuel Ibenni, alias “Markfish”, are apprehended in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, following intelligence-led operations.
“The suspects are part of a syndicate posing as commercial drivers,” police spokesperson DCP Anthony Okon Placid says.
Investigators say the group lures passengers into vehicles before robbing, assaulting and, in some cases, killing victims.
Authorities link the suspects to multiple incidents involving theft of cash, phones and valuables.
Several victims have identified the suspects, strengthening the case against the network.
“Efforts are ongoing to arrest other members still at large,” police say.
The breakthrough comes amid growing public concern over “one chance” crimes targeting commuters in Abuja and neighbouring areas.
Police reiterate their commitment to tackling violent crime and protecting citizens.
