ABUJA, Nigeria – The Federal Government has extended its special passport intervention exercise in the United Kingdom to 27 November 2026, giving Nigerians seeking passport services additional time to access the programme.
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) announced the extension in a statement issued on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Akinisola Akinlabi, citing sustained demand from Nigerians in the UK. The exercise, which was previously scheduled to end on 30 October, will run from 3 to 27 November at designated centres in London and Manchester.
Services in Aberdeen and Cardiff are scheduled for 3 to 6 November, according to the NIS. The service said the extension followed a directive from the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and was intended to accommodate more applicants seeking passport services. “The Nigeria Immigration Service wishes to inform Nigerians in the United Kingdom that, in line with the directive of the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the ongoing Special Passport Intervention Exercise has been further extended,” the statement said.
The NIS advised applicants to book appointments through the designated passport intervention booking portal or the Nigeria High Commission’s website and to attend on their scheduled dates and times.
The latest extension follows an earlier adjustment that moved the exercise’s deadline from 3 October to 30 October. However, the service did not disclose how many applicants had been served, how many applications remained outstanding or how many people were still awaiting appointments.
The NIS also said its upgraded contactless passport application system remained available as an alternative for eligible applicants seeking passport renewal without visiting intervention centres or the High Commission.
