IPERU-REMO, Nigeria – A joint police operation across Lagos and Ogun states has rescued five kidnap victims, arrested 88 suspects and dismantled criminal camps operating within forest corridors and border communities.
The security exercise, code-named Operation Kosaye, was formally launched Saturday at the Police Training School in Iperu-Remo.
Ogun State Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni said the operation targets kidnappers and violent criminals using forests as hideouts.
“Operation Kosaye means there is no hiding place for criminals,” he said.
Ojajuni disclosed that operatives rescued five abducted victims along the Ijebu-Ode corridor.
“Four suspected kidnappers were neutralised, while four others were arrested,” he said.
The operation also led to the arrest of 84 additional suspects across both states.
Recovered exhibits included AK-47 rifles, pump-action guns, locally made pistols, ammunition and communication devices.
The commissioner urged residents not to panic over increased police deployments.
“The operation is still ongoing, and our officers will continue to sustain the offensive against criminal elements,” he said.
Lagos Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani said several forests previously occupied by criminal gangs had been reclaimed.
“This exercise is not a one-off operation. It is continuous and will be sustained,” he said.
The police chiefs commended the governments of Lagos and Ogun states for providing logistics and operational support.
