ABUJA, Nigeria – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrests two elderly suspects, aged 83 and 78, alongside multiple traffickers in a sweeping nationwide crackdown that uncovers large quantities of illicit drugs across several states.
NDLEA spokesperson, Mr. Femi Babafemi on Sunday confirms the arrests, identifying Pa John Ofiel, 83, apprehended in Aba with skunk, and Ogunjobi Samuel, 78, arrested in Ekiti with similar substances.
In Ibadan, operatives detain suspects linked to synthetic cannabis, while raids in Lagos yield a staggering 740kg of skunk in Mushin.
Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa commends officers for sustained enforcement. “We must intensify efforts to curb drug supply while expanding prevention campaigns,” he states.
The agency says operations also uncovered Tramadol stockpiles in northern states, reinforcing concerns over widespread abuse.
NDLEA continues its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation campaigns nationwide, targeting schools and communities to reduce demand.
