LOKOJA, Nigeria – The Nigeria Police Force inaugurates two new police outposts in Lokoja, strengthening security coverage and improving rapid response to crime in Kogi State.
Police spokesperson ASP Saliu Afusat says the facilities, located in Adankolo and Zango, are part of nationwide efforts to expand police presence and deepen community policing under Inspector-General Kayode Egbetokun.
“These outposts are strategically positioned to deter criminal activity and ensure swift response to emergencies,” Afusat says.
She explains that the projects follow concerns raised by residents during a stakeholders’ meeting with Commissioner of Police Naziru Kankarofi, who pledged immediate action.
“The absence of police formations was creating security gaps,” she says. “This intervention fulfills our promise to the communities.”
At the inauguration, Kankarofi described the outposts as symbols of partnership rather than mere infrastructure.
“Sustainable security is only achievable through cooperation between the police and the people,” he says.
He charges officers deployed to the facilities to uphold professionalism, discipline and respect for human rights, aligning with the police leadership’s vision for people-centred policing.
Kankarofi also urges residents to support security efforts by providing credible information, assuring confidentiality and prompt response.
Afusat adds that the command remains committed to proactive policing across Kogi State, stressing that community trust is essential to crime prevention and intelligence gathering.
