AWKA, Nigeria – The Anambra State Police Command has deployed 60 Safe School Operatives to examination centres across the state to ensure a secure and hitch-free 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The deployment, which commenced Tuesday, is part of coordinated efforts to safeguard candidates, invigilators and officials during the nationwide examination scheduled from April 16 to April 26.
Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the operatives are strategically positioned across the state’s eight area commands and are being coordinated by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, Harrison Oruruo.
“The deployment… is aimed at providing robust security coverage across all designated centres,” he said.
The initiative falls under the command’s Safe School Programme, designed to prevent security breaches and examination malpractice while ensuring a conducive environment for candidates.
Authorities urged residents and stakeholders to remain law-abiding and cooperate fully with security personnel throughout the examination period.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to protecting lives and property, noting that proactive security measures are critical to maintaining public confidence in national examinations.
