Governor Sanwo-Olu inaugurates 420 new housing units in Badagry
LAGOS, Nigeria – Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has inaugurated 420 new housing units in the Ajara Housing Scheme, Badagry, marking the completion of the project’s first phase.
Speaking at the commissioning, Sanwo-Olu described the development as “a milestone in our mission to make Lagos a 21st-century economy built on livable communities.”
He said the project had faced delays before his administration intervened to resolve long-standing challenges. “We took over, addressed the issues, and moved it to completion,” he said.
According to the governor, the Ajara estate is the 24th delivered under his government’s six-year housing programme, which has produced over 10,000 homes across all income levels.
The estate includes paved roads, water treatment facilities, a drainage system, perimeter fencing, and a reliable electricity network. “Each apartment was built for comfort and quality living,” Sanwo-Olu said.
He also announced a subsidy on prices to improve affordability and reserved 20 percent of the homes for essential workers, including teachers, doctors, and public servants.
The second phase of the Ajara project, expected to deliver 800 additional units, has already commenced. “Badagry is fast transforming through our investments in housing, roads, healthcare, and education,” Sanwo-Olu added.
