KATSINA, Nigeria – Katsina State projects more than 200,000 new jobs through its Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) initiative, following direct support to nearly 24,000 beneficiaries.
The Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA) revealed the figures Thursday during a security and governance consultation convened by Governor Dikko Radda.
KASEDA Director-General, Aisha Aminu Malunfashi, said ₦9.95 billion has been invested to empower women, youth, and startups across 823 MSME clusters. “Katsina hosts over 1.7 million MSMEs, providing livelihoods for millions. They are crucial entry points into the economy,” she noted.
The flagship Integrated MSME Development Program targets 500,000 enterprises in all 34 LGAs, focusing on digital innovation, agro-processing, and financial inclusion.
Initiatives include a ₦3.4 billion revolving fund with the Bank of Industry and Sterling Bank, a ₦542 million UNDP livelihood programme, entrepreneurship academies, and upgraded processing centres for Kilishi, cassava, and gari.
Malunfashi stressed that 23,912 people have directly benefited so far, with 200,000 jobs expected in the coming years. “All achievements align with Governor Radda’s vision of a prosperous Katsina powered by entrepreneurship,” she said.
