Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya
GOMBE, Nigeria – Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships aimed at transforming agriculture, improving livelihoods and accelerating economic growth in Gombe State.
Yahaya made the pledge on Friday while receiving a delegation from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and Propcom+ during an annual partnership review meeting at the Government House in Gombe.
The delegation, led by Archie Stay, reviewed ongoing projects and explored new collaboration opportunities in agriculture, climate adaptation and economic inclusion.
Speaking during the meeting, Yahaya said agriculture remains central to the state’s economic agenda and job creation strategy.
“Our administration places high priority on agriculture as a major driver of economic growth and employment. Collaboration with reputable international development partners such as FCDO remains critical to achieving sustainable development goals in Gombe State,” the governor said.
He praised the development partners for supporting reforms and programmes targeted at farmers, women and vulnerable communities.
Yahaya particularly commended Propcom+ for contributing to the development of Gombe State’s Agro-Industrial Policy, which has already secured approval from the State Executive Council and is awaiting official launch.
The governor also assured the delegation of his administration’s readiness to deepen cooperation, attract investment and promote innovation in agricultural production and climate resilience.
Earlier, Stay said the visit focused on evaluating ongoing interventions and consulting stakeholders on future phases of the Propcom+ programme.
He commended the Gombe State Government for demonstrating political commitment to food security, climate adaptation and inclusive economic development.
The meeting was attended by senior government officials, including Permanent Secretaries from the Ministries of Finance and Agriculture.
