ASABA, Nigeria – Fidson Healthcare Plc has donated a multi-million-naira theatre pharmacy to the Federal Medical Centre Asaba in Delta State, a move aimed at improving emergency care and healthcare delivery at the tertiary health institution.
The facility was inaugurated on Thursday, with officials describing the project as a major boost to patient care and surgical services at the hospital.
Speaking during the commissioning, Fidson Healthcare Commercial Director, Ola Ijimakin, said the company chose to support FMC Asaba because of its significant contributions to healthcare delivery in the region.
“FMC Asaba is an institution close to us and it’s doing a great job in this part of the country. We felt we could support that work,” he said.
Ijimakin explained that the project, valued at tens of millions of naira, was selected by the hospital as a priority intervention under the company’s corporate social responsibility programme.
“It is a pharmacy dedicated to the theatre with drugs, rest place, offices and all the tools needed to run a theatre that is effective,” he added.
Medical Director of FMC Asaba, Ekeneam Omo, commended Fidson Healthcare for the investment, describing it as a partnership that will significantly improve service delivery.
“I am happy that Fidson thought it wise to invest in the centre for the health of our patients and I look forward to many other corporate organisations coming to do the same here,” he said.
According to Omo, the previous theatre pharmacy operated from a much smaller space, limiting efficiency and accessibility.
The newly reconstructed facility is located adjacent to the operating theatre, enabling faster access to medicines and medical supplies during emergencies.
