Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Ali Pate
ABUJA, Nigeria – The Federal Government has released outbreak preparedness funds to states to strengthen surveillance, emergency response and disease detection systems.
The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, approved the release through the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.
Under the arrangement, each state will receive ₦21.2 million, representing 50 per cent of the State Outbreak Investigation and Response Fund.
Officials said the funding is aimed at improving state-level preparedness against Ebola and other emerging health threats.
The intervention forms part of broader national health security measures coordinated through the Presidential Task Force on Ebola Preparedness and Other Health Threats.
Pate said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to both health security and accountability.
States have been directed to account for the funds within six months and comply with financial reporting requirements.
Health experts say stronger surveillance and emergency response systems remain essential for preventing future outbreaks.
