BAUCHI, Nigeria – Bauchi State has received a major boost in its fight against child malnutrition with the delivery of nutrition supplies valued at about ₦600 million to support treatment and prevention programmes for children under five.
The consignment includes 4,562 cartons of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) and 15,419 cartons of Small-Quantity Lipid-based Nutrient Supplements (SQLNS) aimed at addressing severe acute malnutrition and improving child health outcomes.
Officials say the supplies arrived on Saturday, targeting thousands of vulnerable children affected by wasting and stunting across the state.
The donation is supported through the Child Nutrition Fund, with backing from UNICEF and other development partners working alongside the Bauchi State Government.
Health authorities describe the delivery as a significant step in strengthening ongoing nutrition interventions designed to save lives and reduce childhood malnutrition rates.
Officials involved in the programme call the support “a big win for children in Bauchi today,” noting that the commodities will play a critical role in both treatment and prevention strategies.
The intervention follows continued collaboration between the state government, international partners and local health programmes, supported by counterpart funding aimed at sustaining nutrition services.
