YOLA, Nigeria – Adamawa State First Lady Dr Lami Ahmadu Fintiri has launched the Measles-Rubella (MR) Vaccination Campaign at the Damre Primary Health Care Facility in Girei Local Government Area, reaffirming the government’s resolve to protect children through routine immunisation.
The event on Sunday brought together health officials, community leaders and development partners to strengthen vaccine coverage across the 21 LGAs.
“Vaccines are safe, effective and lifesaving,” Dr Fintiri said. “This campaign is a critical investment in the health and future of our children. We must ensure no child is left behind.”
She urged local leaders and their spouses to support daily review meetings for effective coordination. Appreciating the Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for championing the national immunisation drive, Dr Fintiri also commended WHO, UNICEF, AFENET, C-WINNS, APHPN, Helen Keller International and CHIGARI Foundation for technical and financial support.
She praised the State Ministry of Health and the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ASPHCDA) for their dedication and announced the distribution of freezers to all 21 local government cold stores to maintain vaccine potency.
Other speakers, including Health Commissioner Hon Felix Tangwami and ASPHCDA Chairman Dr Suleiman Saidu Bashir, hailed the initiative as a milestone in child-health protection. The campaign targets children aged nine months to five years.
