ADAMAWA, Nigeria – The Adamawa State Government has taken its 66th Independence Anniversary celebration to hospital wards in Yola, providing cash and essential items to patients and their families.
Representatives of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri visited the Federal Medical Centre, Yola, and Adamawa State University Teaching Hospital on Thursday as part of activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
The delegation toured the children’s, labour and surgical wards, where officials interacted with patients and relatives who could not participate in the wider celebrations because of their hospitalisation.
Commissioner for Information, Leader Leneke, said the governor directed the outreach to ensure that patients receiving treatment were not excluded from the state’s Independence Day activities.
Some patients and their relatives received toiletries and financial assistance during the visit. The intervention provided support to families facing the additional financial pressures associated with medical treatment, particularly those who had to remain in hospital during the national celebration.
The delegation also met with hospital management and urged patients to comply with medical advice while receiving treatment.
The hospital visits formed part of the Adamawa State Government’s activities to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
