KANO, Nigeria – The Kano State Government has approved more than ₦8.2 billion for new education, water supply, and energy projects aimed at improving public infrastructure and service delivery across the state.
The announcement followed the 33rd State Executive Council meeting held in Kano and chaired by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
According to a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the government allocated over ₦4.9 billion to education-related upgrades to improve learning conditions and academic performance.
Projects include Phase II renovation at Government Technical College, Ungogo, settlement of boarding school feeding liabilities, production of instructional materials, furnishing of the e-library at Kano State College of Education and Preliminary Studies, and accreditation works at Kano State Polytechnic. Funds will also provide new office fittings at Northwest University.
“Education remains the cornerstone of our development agenda,” the statement noted.
The Council also approved ₦3.3 billion to strengthen water supply and energy operations. These include constructing a modern treatment plant in Taliwaiwai, settling electricity debts owed to KEDCO, and purchasing fuel for water facilities.
“These interventions will guarantee steady water supply, improve energy efficiency, and promote better living standards,” officials stated.
Governor Yusuf said the administration will continue prioritising projects that improve welfare and infrastructure across Kano State.
