GUSAU, Nigeria – Zamfara State secures the commitment of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) to commission a state-of-the-art automotive training centre in Gusau by the second quarter of 2026.
The agreement is confirmed in a statement on Saturday by Coordinator of the Made in Nigeria Special Project, Ibrahim Bello Marafa, Zamfara State Office, following a high-level engagement with NADDC officials in Abuja.
The Gusau facility forms part of 21 automotive training centres being established nationwide to strengthen technical skills in vehicle maintenance, repair and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion.
NADDC Director-General, Otunba Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, reaffirms the commitment during a follow-up visit by a Zamfara State Government delegation led by Marafa.
When completed, the centre is expected to provide continuous training for about 100 youths and technicians in motorcycle and tricycle repairs, light- and heavy-duty vehicle maintenance, and CNG vehicle conversion and servicing.
State officials say the project aligns with Governor Dauda Lawal’s youth empowerment agenda, addressing gaps in employable technical skills while supporting Nigeria’s automotive modernisation drive.
The initiative is also expected to complement Zamfara’s mass transit reform plans, including proposals to deploy electric vehicles for intra-state transportation.
During the visit, the Zamfara delegation presents the Made in Zamfara electric handcycle developed for persons with disabilities, seeking NADDC’s support to scale the innovation and expand inclusive mobility solutions.
