ZAMFARA, Nigeria – Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal has reinstated 103 teachers wrongfully dismissed during a recent civil service verification exercise, restoring both their jobs and withheld salaries.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mallam Wadatau Madawaki, announced the decision on Friday, confirming that the teachers were cleared after a fresh audit.
“After thorough verification, it was discovered that their salaries were stopped due to administrative oversights,” Madawaki explained.
He added that the affected teachers, whose salaries had been withheld since January 2025, will receive full arrears up to July. “Governor Lawal approved their reinstatement to correct the injustice and promote fairness in the system,” he said.
Madawaki noted that the state government’s verification exercise was aimed at sanitising the workforce, improving efficiency, and ensuring accountability.
He urged the reinstated teachers to show renewed commitment and integrity in their duties, warning that indiscipline would no longer be tolerated.
The government had earlier suspended 780 workers after uncovering irregularities such as double employment, underage recruitment, and absenteeism during the verification process.
