ZAMFARA, Nigeria – Governor Dauda Lawal has reiterated his administration’s resolve to build a digitally enabled, transparent and efficient government in Zamfara State, as the state begins a computer appreciation programme for Commissioners and Special Advisers in Gusau.
The initiative, organised by the Zamfara Information and Communications Technology Development Agency (ZITDA), is expected to improve digital literacy among senior government officials to support ongoing e-governance reforms.
“Our goal is to transform Zamfara into a smart, connected government that works with accuracy, efficiency, and transparency,” Governor Lawal said during the inauguration. “Technology is no longer optional. It is the foundation of modern service delivery.”
According to his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris in a statement on Tuesday, the state has already commenced several ICT reforms, including the e-GovConnect portal, a digital literacy framework and partnerships with international tech organisations to build capacity across ministries.
Governor Lawal urged participants to apply the knowledge gained, saying the success of the state’s digital transition depends on leadership adoption.
“Our citizens deserve responsive governance, and that begins with us adopting modern tools that improve how we work,” he added.
