YOBE, Nigeria – The Yobe State Government has announced a strategic partnership with Chinese firm Mutual Commitment Company Limited to establish a multi-million-tonne limestone-to-cement industrial complex in the state.
Governor Mai Mala Buni on Saturday says the project is expected to produce about three million tonnes of cement annually and support economic growth, industrialisation and job creation.
According to a statement issued in Damaturu by the governor’s media aide, Mamman Mohammed, the initiative will be implemented through the Yobe Mining Development Company Limited.
“The government of Yobe State remains fully committed to strategic partnerships that will unlock the economic potential of our natural resources,” Buni says.
He describes the cement project as a major step in the state’s industrialisation drive aimed at creating employment opportunities and attracting foreign investment.
The governor also assures investors of political support and a conducive business environment for the successful execution of the project.
Managing Director of MCC, Liu Long, expresses confidence in the partnership and commends the state government’s investment-friendly policies.
“We are impressed by the proactive leadership and stable investment climate in Yobe State,” Liu says.
