ABUJA, Nigeria – XEJet Limited signs a deal with the University of Abuja to establish a new aerospace and space engineering centre aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s aviation workforce.
The memorandum of understanding, announced Monday, creates the XEJet Centre for Aerospace and Space Engineering to advance aeronautical and astronautical education.
XEJet Group Chief Executive Emmanuel Iza says the project reflects the firm’s long-term commitment to Nigeria’s aviation sector.
“The XEJet Centre for Aerospace and Space Engineering marks the beginning of that journey and represents our commitment to education, infrastructure and talent development,” Iza says.
The project runs in two phases, beginning with upgrades to existing university laboratories to support teaching and meet accreditation requirements of the National Universities Commission and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria.
Plans also include constructing a permanent, green-powered academic complex fully funded by XEJet.
Iza adds that the company will offer automatic employment to the programme’s top three graduates each year for the next decade, subject to meeting hiring criteria.
Dean of Engineering Abdulfatai Jimoh welcomes the partnership, saying industry exposure is critical.
“This agreement will bring growth, standard and quality to aerospace engineering training,” Jimoh says.
