ABUJA, Nigeria – Nigeria’s security architecture is now on its highest alert level as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu orders a full-scale national mobilisation against terrorism, banditry and escalating violent crimes across the country.
At a briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the President has directed security agencies to “pursue, dismantle and neutralise” all terrorist and criminal networks operating within Nigeria.
“He has mandated our armed forces, intelligence units and police formations to aggressively hunt down terrorists, bandits and violent offenders wherever they operate. Rescuing the abducted Kebbi schoolgirls is a top national priority.”
The Minister described the killing of a senior Army officer, the abduction of students in Kebbi, and the attack on worshippers in Kwara as “painful reminders of the threats confronting the country,” adding that such tragedies have strengthened the government’s determination to deliver decisive action
“In this critical moment, national unity is our most powerful asset,” he said. “Our security agencies remain fully committed to restoring peace and ensuring the safe return of the abducted schoolgirls.”
