Anambra Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo
ANAMBRA, Nigeria – Professor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) secures a resounding victory in the Anambra governorship election, after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirms results across the state’s 21 local government areas on Sunday.
Soludo received 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, who polled 99,445 votes. Other parties fall significantly behind, with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) earning 8,208 votes and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) securing 1,401 votes.
The Returning Officer notes that the election is conducted peacefully in most polling units. “The will of the people has been freely expressed through the ballot,” he says.
APGA records dominant wins in local government areas including Njikoka, Aguata and Ogbaru, showing broad statewide support.
In his acceptance speech, Soludo thanks voters for their trust. “This victory belongs to all Anambrarians who believe in a greater future for our state,” he says. “We will build a secure, prosperous and inclusive Anambra.”
Soludo is expected to focus on strengthening infrastructure, improving security and expanding economic opportunities, especially for young people.
