ZAMFARA, Nigeria – Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday inaugurated 10 digital libraries across multiple states to promote inclusive access to digital education and empower young learners through technology.
The initiative, implemented through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) in partnership with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), aims to enhance educational infrastructure and bridge the digital divide in underserved communities.
Representing the First Lady, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, wife of the Zamfara State Governor, described the project as a landmark investment in Nigeria’s knowledge economy.
“This project is not just about technology,” she said. “It is about empowering young people, opening doors of opportunity, and building a smarter, more innovative generation.”
She noted that the digital libraries will serve as resource hubs for students, teachers, and researchers, providing access to e-learning tools and global information resources.
Senator Tinubu commended the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy and NITDA for their collaboration, describing the initiative as part of a broader national learning revolution.
“I urge Zamfara’s students and educators to maximise this opportunity,” she said. “Let it be a tool for learning, growth, and the building of a brighter future.”
NITDA Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to expanding ICT-driven education and urged state leaders to sustain investment in digital learning.
