KANO, NIGERIA — The Kano State Police Command has rescued three kidnapped victims and recovered vital exhibits during coordinated sting operations across Kano and Kaduna States.
Police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the rescue on Friday, saying it followed a directive from the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, to intensify anti-kidnapping efforts.
Acting on intelligence, operatives stormed a hideout at Saya-Saya, Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where 65-year-old Musa Idris was rescued after a tip-off from Abdul Hamid Bello, 21, an escapee who had fled captivity.
“The kidnappers fled as police closed in, abandoning their camp, a motorcycle, and ropes used to restrain victims,” Kiyawa said.
In a separate raid, the Anti-Kidnapping Squad rescued 19-year-old Ashiru Murtala, abducted from Beli Village in Rogo LGA of Kano on October 5. He was found abandoned at a sugarcane farm in Kudan LGA, Kaduna.
Bakori ordered medical care for all rescued victims and vowed continued pursuit of the fleeing suspects. “There will be no hiding place for criminals,” he said, commending the officers’ professionalism and public cooperation.
The Command urged residents to report suspicious movements through emergency hotlines.
