LAGOS, Nigeria – Motorists travelling between Victoria Island and Lekki in Lagos are facing a 35-day traffic diversion following the commencement of road repairs on Ozumba Mbadiwe Road.
The Lagos State Government said the diversion, which began on Monday, would allow repair work on the stretch linking Adetokunbo Ademola Road, near Civic Centre, to Samuel Manuwa Street.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said traffic would be managed through a contraflow arrangement, with vehicles travelling towards Lagos Island using the Lekki-bound lane while the Lagos-bound lane was undergoing repairs.
The government announced alternative routes for motorists approaching the affected area from Falomo, Bonny Camp, Eko Hotel and 1004 Estate.
From Bonny Camp or Falomo to Civic Centre and Lekki: Motorists should use Adeyemo Alakija Street by Muri Okunola Park, continue through Adeola Hopewell Street and Akinbo Savage Street, then proceed to Bishop Aboyade Cole Street and the Lekki-Epe Expressway through School Corner, near Black Diamond, towards Sandfield.
