Governor Dapo Abiodun inspecting the new medical facility in Abeokuta
Abeokuta, Nigeria – Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has announced that the state’s 250-bed Medical Centre of Excellence in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, will be commissioned in December 2025, marking a major step toward improving specialised healthcare delivery in the region.
Abiodun made the disclosure during an inspection of the nearly completed facility, which was started by a previous administration but stalled due to structural and engineering issues.
“We are looking forward to the completion of this project,” he said. “The exterior is done, landscaping is ongoing, the oxygen plant is functioning, and internal systems are now being finalised. I have directed increased manpower so operations can begin within weeks.”
“This facility will serve as a spoke to the Abuja hub, ensuring seamless referral and specialist service access,” Abiodun explained. “By the time this hospital is commissioned, people will no longer need to travel to Lagos or other states for treatment.”
Project Manager Dr. Frank Etang confirmed radiology, laboratories, consulting suites, and treatment wards are ready for trial operations.
“We are ready for the commissioning,” he said.
The centre is expected to attract regional patients from Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, and neighbouring states.
