OGUN, Nigeria – The Ogun State Government has conducted a three-day training programme to strengthen youth-friendly healthcare delivery across the state, with a focus on improving communication, access and vaccine awareness.
Speaking on Tuesday, Executive Secretary of the State Primary Healthcare Development Board, Dr. Elijah Ogunsola, said many young people still struggle to access care due to stigma and inadequate service structures.
Represented by Dr. Thomas Solarin, he noted that the training would help build a more inclusive and youth-responsive health system.
“This programme will ensure services are accessible, acceptable, equitable and effective for young people,” he said.
Sydani Group State Lead, Mr. Ayodele Asoro, highlighted that the initiative also sought to address misinformation surrounding vaccines and support public sensitisation ahead of the rollout of the Measles Rubella vaccine. “Youth-friendly care is not just treatment—it is respect and informed choice,” he added.
The State Coordinator of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Solape Folarin, described the training as timely and encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained to improve patient experience and trust.
Participants Adedeji Wasiu and Okonkwo Anges thanked organisers, noting that the programme equipped them to communicate better with young clients and strengthen public confidence in healthcare services.
