WARRI, Nigeria – The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced that the Warri–Itakpe Train Service (WITS) will resume operations on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, after a temporary suspension for critical maintenance and system checks.
In a Saturday statement signed by NRC’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, the Corporation said the online booking portal would reopen on Monday, October 27, to enable commuters to plan their trips in advance.
“The temporary suspension allowed us to carry out essential track and rolling stock maintenance to ensure comfort, safety, and reliability for passengers,” the statement read.
Operations will begin with seven coaches—six standard class and one business class—under a new timetable that includes temporary speed restrictions for safety monitoring.
NRC Managing Director, Dr Kayode Opeifa apologised for the disruption and reaffirmed the Corporation’s commitment to efficient, secure rail services.
“We appreciate our passengers’ patience and assure them of better service delivery,” he said.
