ABUJA, Nigeria – The Nigerian Army opens applications for Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29/2026, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for officer commissions across key professional corps.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Anele Onyinyechi Appolonia, confirms that the recruitment exercise is open to both civilians and serving military personnel who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria.
She states that successful candidates will be commissioned into specialised units critical to the Army’s operational and professional capacity. These include the Nigerian Army Engineers, Nigerian Army Signals, Nigerian Army Medical Corps, Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and the Nigerian Army Education Corps.
“The application process is completely free and conducted strictly online,” the statement says, warning applicants to beware of fraudsters and individuals demanding payment in exchange for enlistment.
According to the Army, the online application portal opens on 7 January 2026 and closes on 4 February 2026, with no extensions beyond the stated deadline.
Prospective applicants are advised to visit the official recruitment portal, recruitment.army.mil.ng, where detailed guidelines, eligibility requirements and application procedures are published.
For further clarification, the Army provides dedicated contact lines — 08179269294 and 08109959294 — available daily between 8:00am and 6:00pm.
Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia reiterates the Nigerian Army’s commitment to a transparent, merit-based recruitment process, stressing that selection is based solely on qualifications and suitability.
