ABUJA, Nigeria – Nigeria calls for full investigation and autopsy reports following the killing of two nationals in South Africa amid rising diplomatic tension.
Foreign Affairs spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa on Monday confirms that discussions are ongoing between Nigeria and South African officials over the incident.
He says Nigeria is demanding access to case files and full autopsy reports, stressing the need for transparency and justice.
Ebienfa notes that about 130 Nigerians have indicated interest in voluntary return as fear spreads within affected communities.
He adds that while repatriation is currently self-funded, government intervention may follow for vulnerable citizens.
South African authorities, he says, have pledged to investigate and prosecute those responsible, though no arrests have yet been made.
