MAIDUGURI, Nigeria – The Federal Government has delivered urgent medical supplies and relief materials to victims of the recent explosions in Maiduguri, signalling a rapid humanitarian response.
The intervention, coordinated by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), includes medicines, food, and essential items for affected families.
NEMA Director-General Zubaida Umar leads the delivery alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima, who visits victims receiving treatment.
At the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Shettima assures medical staff and patients of federal support.
“The supplies are a direct intervention to strengthen ongoing treatment efforts,” he says, expressing condolences to victims and families.
The delegation includes Borno Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur and Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan, reflecting a coordinated government response.
The explosions have renewed concerns over security and emergency preparedness in the region, long affected by insurgency.
NEMA says the response underscores its commitment to timely humanitarian assistance nationwide.
For residents, the arrival of aid and senior officials provides both relief and reassurance amid ongoing recovery efforts.
