LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has introduced a new toll-free emergency short code, 3367, to improve traffic management, strengthen emergency response and enhance accountability across the state.
The agency said the new platform replaces its previous long-service number and offers residents a simpler and cost-free channel to report traffic emergencies and road incidents.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, LASTMA said the hotline is currently available to subscribers on MTN, Glo and 9mobile networks.
According to the agency, road users can use the 3367 hotline to report road crashes, vehicle breakdowns, stranded tankers, disabled articulated trucks, traffic obstructions and other incidents requiring immediate intervention.
LASTMA also said the platform would allow residents to report the conduct and operational activities of traffic officers as part of efforts to promote transparency and accountability.
The agency added that callers can communicate in English, Yoruba or Pidgin English to encourage wider participation and remove language barriers during emergencies.
Speaking on the initiative, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, described the new hotline as a major step toward building a more responsive and technology-driven traffic management system.
“The inauguration of the 3367 Toll-Free Short-Code Hotline represents another monumental stride towards institutionalising a safer, more efficient and highly responsive transportation ecosystem across Lagos State,” he said.
According to him, the rapid expansion and complexity of Lagos require innovative solutions capable of addressing transportation challenges in real time.
Bakare-Oki assured residents that reports made through the platform would be handled professionally and forwarded to relevant operational units for immediate action.
He urged the public to utilise the service to improve road safety and support the state’s efforts to build a safer transportation system.
