LAGOS, Nigeria – The NAFDAC Trade Fair shops enforcement operation has led to the sealing of several business premises at the Trade Fair Complex in Ojo, Lagos State, over the alleged sale and distribution of unregistered cosmetic products.
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) says the action follows a two-day enforcement exercise conducted by its Investigation and Enforcement Directorate, Cosmetics Division, on 26 and 27 August 2026. The agency announced the operation in a statement posted on its X account on Saturday, saying it forms part of ongoing efforts to remove unregistered cosmetics from the Nigerian market and protect public health.
According to NAFDAC, operatives inspected shops and business premises across the Trade Fair Complex and discovered suspected unregistered cosmetic products, prompting officials to seal the affected locations pending further regulatory action.
“The affected premises were locked and placed under NAFDAC HOLD labels pending further regulatory action,” the agency said.
NAFDAC said samples of the suspected products were collected for laboratory analysis and further investigation, while invitation letters were issued to business owners and operators to appear before the agency for questioning and other regulatory proceedings.
Among the businesses affected are Vincentmo World, Amazon City of Fragrance, Aza-King Store Perfumes, PP2 & Fragrance Int’l Ltd. – Design Perfumes & Cosmetics, Fragrance Doctor Shop and God & Obaino Fragrance Store, alongside other outlets within the commercial complex.
NAFDAC warned that cosmetics that have not undergone regulatory evaluation may contain prohibited, contaminated or undeclared ingredients capable of causing serious health complications. Products such as creams, lotions, soaps, perfumes and other personal care items require registration to verify their safety, quality and composition before they are offered for sale.
