ADO-EKITI, Nigeria – The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved N458.8 million for critical infrastructure to support the newly completed 80-bed multipurpose building at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Ado-Ekiti, as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery across the state.
The approvals were granted during the council’s sixth meeting for 2026, held on Tuesday at the Executive Council Chamber of the New Governor’s Office in Ado-Ekiti.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, the projects include N194.66 million for the supply and installation of transformers and electrical accessories, alongside N142.69 million for the construction of a water sump to improve storage and distribution within the hospital.
The council also approved N3 billion for the construction of a new High Court Office Complex following the appointment of five additional judges.
The project, to be executed by Axial Nigeria Limited through direct procurement, will provide additional courtrooms, judges’ chambers and administrative offices, with completion expected within 18 months.
In addition, the council approved the recruitment of 30 persons with disabilities into the state public service, reaffirming its commitment to enforcing the five per cent employment quota stipulated under the Ekiti State Disability Law.
Other approvals include N121.45 million for the installation of solar-powered streetlights at strategic government facilities, N145.09 million for the expansion of the state’s enterprise broadband network, and the redesignation of the Registered Builders (Building Officer) cadre to the Builders Cadre.
The state government said the decisions are aimed at improving public infrastructure, strengthening digital governance, promoting inclusion and enhancing public service delivery.
