LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos health worker recruitment exercise has commenced as the Lagos State Government moves to strengthen healthcare delivery by recruiting clinical personnel across its 29 secondary healthcare facilities to address manpower shortages and improve patient care.
The Lagos State Health Service Commission announces on Monday that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the recruitment to fill vacant positions in government-owned general hospitals across the state.
According to the commission, the initiative aligns with the administration’s THEMES Agenda and reinforces its commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare for Lagos residents.
The commission says the Lagos health worker recruitment is designed to reduce the impact of the ongoing brain drain in Nigeria’s health sector while boosting the capacity of public hospitals.
Vacancies are available for consultants in various specialties, senior registrars, medical officers, dental officers, pharmacists, physiotherapists, medical laboratory scientists, optometrists, radiographers, nursing officers, clinical psychologists and health assistants.
“The recruitment is also aimed at mitigating the impact of the ongoing brain drain affecting the health sector while enhancing the capacity of public healthcare institutions,” the commission says.
Interested applicants are directed to submit applications through the Lagos State Health Service Commission recruitment portal.
The commission says the application process opens on Monday, July 13, 2026, and closes on Friday, July 24, 2026.
Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for a computer-based test (CBT) and interview.
The commission also warns applicants against paying any individual or organisation, stressing that the recruitment exercise is entirely free.
