LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Government has intensified its immunisation campaign to protect children under five from vaccine-preventable diseases, launching a statewide Outbreak Response (OBR) initiative aimed at boosting herd immunity and preventing future health emergencies.
The campaign was flagged off in Agege Local Government Area on Sunday, with supervisory teams deployed to health facilities to monitor vaccine availability, service quality, and community mobilisation efforts.
Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board (LSPHCB), Dr Ibrahim Akinwunmi Mustafa, led the field supervision. He emphasised that vaccines remain safe, effective, and essential for child survival.
“Our supervisory visits ensure operational compliance and assess the quality of care across facilities,” he said. “We commend our frontline health workers whose dedication keeps communities protected.”
He urged parents and caregivers to ensure that every eligible child receives their vaccines.
“Immunisation is free. It prevents diseases that can lead to disability or death. No child should be left behind,” he stressed.
Chairman of Agege Local Government, Abdulganiyu Obasa, reaffirmed community support, noting that the collaboration will ensure every household in the area benefits.
“We are working hand-in-hand with LSPHCB to ensure maximum coverage,” he said.
