KWARA, Nigeria – The Kwara State Government has launched a sweeping enforcement campaign to stop the growing use of commercial vehicles for unauthorised and potentially harmful advertisements.
The Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA) convened an emergency session with transport unions on Monday following reports that fraudsters, unlicensed drug sellers and promoters of unsafe products have been exploiting unregulated vehicle ads to target unsuspecting commuters.
Acting General Manager, KWASAA, Mr Toba Adeyeye, said the situation has become a public-safety concern, warning that minibuses (Korope) and tricycles (Keke Marwa) have increasingly turned into mobile displays for unverified products.
“The safety and well-being of Kwarans remain paramount to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq,” Adeyeye said. He stressed that the agency would enforce a strict zero-tolerance policy for unapproved advertising content.
The NURTW State Secretary, Alhaji Yemi Aliu, pledged to sensitise drivers and ensure that advertisers follow due process.
The meeting ended with a joint commitment to restore order to outdoor and transit advertising while prioritising public protection across the state.
