Governor Dikko Radda
KATSINA, Nigeria – Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has pledged to expand access to clean water across the state after announcing the completion of 32 water supply schemes aimed at addressing chronic shortages in rural communities.
The governor said the projects form part of his administration’s wider effort to improve access to potable water and strengthen water infrastructure across Katsina.
Radda made the announcement on Thursday while commissioning the Tsagero Small Town Water Supply Scheme in Rimi Local Government Area.
According to him, 32 of the 66 Small Town Water Supply Schemes awarded by the government have been completed and are either operational or awaiting commissioning.
“The project we are commissioning today represents a significant step forward in our efforts to ensure that communities such as Tsagero have access to safe, sustainable and adequate water supply services,” the governor said.
He noted that the Tsagero scheme would provide clean water to households, schools, health facilities and businesses while reducing the burden of water collection, especially among women and children.
Radda said the government remained committed to expanding water infrastructure to underserved communities.
“Our administration is determined to address water supply challenges and improve the living conditions of our people. We are not stopping here,” he said.
“More schemes will be constructed and expanded across the state to ensure that every community has access to safe, reliable and sustainable water services.”
The governor also highlighted the ongoing Zobe Water Supply Project, rehabilitation of critical facilities, automation of Water Board operations and World Bank-supported interventions.
