KANO, Nigeria – Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, has expelled 34 students for examination misconduct and suspended 13 others for one academic year.
University spokesperson, Abdullahi Datti in a statement sent to AHR on Friday said the decision followed Senate approval of the Examinations Regulations and Irregularities Committee report.
“The report includes recommendations for various categories of punishments for students found guilty of engaging in examination malpractice,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the university has established a new Centre for Equipment Maintenance to develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all academic and research equipment to ensure reliability and minimize downtime.
“The Centre is meant to provide prompt and efficient repair services for malfunctioning or damaged equipment with a view to restoring them to optimal working condition.
“In addition, the Centre is also expected to offer regular training programmes for staff and students on the proper use and basic maintenance of equipment to reduce the risk of misuse and damage,” the statement added.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, has approved the appointment of Engr. Dr. Murtala Sule Dambatta of the Department of Mechanical Engineering as the pioneer Director of the Centre.
